
Fortran Programming in Visual Studio
Course Aims
The attendee learns how to operate the environment of Microsoft Visual Studio (2003 or 2005) using the Intel Visual Fortran compiler. He/she learns to set up projects, to configure them, to create different application types, and to balance their programming efforts against benefits.
Entry Requirements
Fortran 77 programming experience and some Fortran 90 knowledge (INTERFACE, MODULE should be known), basic knowledge of Windows OS.

Course Description
The course is held in form of a workshop with alternate lectures and practical exercises. Topics:
- Operation and functionality (project definition, edit, compile, link, debug, use of some helpful utilities)
- Creation of programs with screen I/O and hints for printing; (application types: console, standard graphics, QuickWin and Windows)
- Creating libraries (static libraries .lib and DLLs .dll), generation of a DLL and calling its functions
- Notes for use of the compiler & linker within batch files (.BAT) or from the command line
Registration
The course can be held with a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 10 attendees, and is usually held at the customer's site. Attendees require their own PC with Intel Visual Fortran and Visual Studio pre-installed.
